Originally from Vancouver, Canada, Michele Quan moved to New York City in 1984 to study graphic design & photography at Parsons School of Design. Her ceramic forms are built by hand, wheel thrown, or slip cast in stoneware and porcelain. Original models for slip cast work are hand sculpted and images are painted or drawn by hand. Other materials used include brass, hand-dyed cotton, felted wool, hemp rope and reclaimed wood. Jewelry is sterling silver or 18K Gold, hand-finished and set with Diamonds and Turquoise, strung with Sandalwood, Antique Coral and Ebony. All work is made in NYC.
